    Default What does Hans think?

I would love to read Hans' opinion about Bob Wyatt's DVDs and his philosophy about fly-tying. Can anyone supply a link to Hans' opinion? I would appreciate your sharing. As those of you who have seen these videos know, Bob Wyatt's ideas might be considered very radical by some folks in the fly tying world.
    Many thanks,
    George

    George,

    This is embarrassing.....

I misnamed the thread for some reason. This pattern is Hans' version of a Sparkle Dun as I say in my original post...not the Wyatt fly.

However, if you look at Hans' YouTube video of his DHE2.0, he mentions it is based on Bob Wyatt's revised Deer Hair Emerger which Hans refers to as a "Well established pattern".

So, at least in this one pattern of Wyatt's original tie, Hans found value.

Hans' video of the ZDHE 2.0:

    Hi George,

Bob and I have been friends for quite a few years. Our respective thoughts and opinions on fly design and trout behavior are very very similar - to the extent that I would be hard pushed to think of any meaningful difference.

    Cheers,
    Hans W

He does eschew CDC, though. I think he prefers other materials due to CDC's tendency to not float well following being slimed after a catch.
Perhaps that is what George was referring to?

Perhaps. He has little problem with the CDC&Elk - on account of the deer hair wing

    Cheers,

He also uses snowshoe hare in his DHE in lieu of deer hair sometimes, but not a fan of CDC.
