    Default Crazy Goof Fly SBS

Not a whole lot of info on this fly; possibly originated along the Gallatin in the 40's. Precursor to the Goofus Bug, Horner Deer Hair, etc, which sired the Humpy.

    Scott,

Nice pattern! You only take a couple turns of hackle, right?

Substituting the chenille body for a spun deer hair one would make for a nice variation, I'll have to put that on my ideas notebook.

That fly makes me think of the "Little Naches River" headwaters. it would be a killer there.

    Alberto,

It's about 3 wraps. The one example I saw looked like it's hackle was tip-tied/folded and the fibers were more swept back. I want this one to actually have a chance to float so I wrapped it in standard fashion.
