Thread: Orvis Zebra line...

  1. Default Orvis Zebra line...

    Flyanglers,

I just got meself a tioga #4 from ebay. the reel comes with an extra spool, both have 4 wt. line and one is called orvis zebra line. I've tried to look this particular line up but I fear it's no longer produced. One search described it as a specialty line?

does anyone know about this line, its characteristics?

    thanks for any clarity.

I have a friend who really liked the zebra line because it made detecting drag really easy. He said it was discontinued because wonderline outsold it by a long shot.

The first 10 feet of the Zebra line are alternating sections of black and white. It was made to aid in strike detection. It was appropriately named as it was kinda like casting a Zebra. Wasn't my cup of tea.

    thanks people,

sounds the line might be a standard floating. the zebra effect may be a bonus... for mending and strike detection.

    will see.
