Great looking fly! I'm interested to hear how it preforms for you.
Thanks,
Long time away yet, but will post results....favorable or unfavorable.
Byron I've used a couple color for nymphs and they have performed quite well. I'll have to tie a few for Montana myself this summer. Thanks for the reminder.

Just wondering - what, if anything, distinguishes this as an emerger as opposed to a nymph? Great looking fly either way.
Primarily the soft hackle collar and the way it is fished. Unlike a nymph, which is usually dead drifted on/near bottom, the soft hackle is usually fished un-weighted,
in a "rising" action, up through the water column.
Gene, where and when will you be fishing the area?

We fly into Bozeman in early July, we want to see Glacier N.P.. About 5 days there and around Missoula then to West Yellowstone . Plan to fish the Madison, Henry's Fork and the Park waters. Byron when do you go?

Gene,
The big Green Drake hatch (if it happens that way) is usually on the Henrys a Fork the last week in June....over by about early July.
So, I usually go about third week of June and fish the Fork, and then up to the Madison after about the 1st of July or so. The Madison, near $3 Bridge, gets good when the caddis start coming off, usually the first week of July......based on my experience in that area of the Madison.
Byron, that's a fine-looking fly.
