More fun with "trash" feathers; waste not, want not.

    hook - Mustad 9671 #10
    thread - MFC 8/0 sand
    underbody - non-tox .025
    rib - small wire copper
    tail - pheasant aftershaft
abdomen - Ice Dub Hare's Ear
    thorax - pheasant aftershaft
    hackle - partridge

    Part 1

mash barb, wrap front 1/2 with non-tox; coat with Super Glue

start thread, cover non-tox; tie in rib and wrap back to bend

take a matching pair of aftershaft feathers (pull off the tips to make them a little more durable), measure (shank); tie in/trim butts

    dub thread, dub abdomen

counterwrap rib; helicopter end and tie off

    Part 2

prep partridge, tie in by tip

split thread, insert aftershaft feather, spin, moisten, stroke it back and wrap

sweep back partridge (a little more spit on the fingers, wrap, tie off, trim, whip, SHHAN, rough up the body with velcro'd popsicle stick

    Regards,
    Scott

tail/thorax/head from a brown-dyed pheasant skin (wrapping some of the aftershaft in front of the hackle gives it a more Sparrow-like look).

If you gently "pluck" the loop after a few spins it will cause the stem-included after shaft feathers to stand out from the thread and fewer will be captured beneath the wrap (sorry Mom - An English Professor). Works as well to 'fluff' dubbing and loose/captured feather fibers prior to applying to the hook. Both pennies.
