How could I forget .... my birthday is December 7th, and I remember like it was yesterday when Pearl Harbor was bombed and my birthday party was just getting underway. Mothers came rushing to our house to pick-up their young'uns - for all we knew and thought, Pearl Harbor might be just over the county line! (I still have not forgiven completely!)

There is an interesting thread on another board of a couple of guys recalling memories of being kids during WWII. I was just a gleam in my dad's eye until a few months after VJ day. One guy grew up on Long Island and recalled finding parts of ships cargo and flotsam from torpedoed liberty ships and the cap from a German sailor.

In the town where I live we had an unusually good turnout for a Pearl Harbor memorial service.
