Local dollar stores and craft stores are discounting Christmas items 50-80%. Lots of green, red, gold, chenile and ribbon for tying. Some may have Christmas tinsel, too. I stocked up.

Years ago I bought two packs of Mylar tinsel Icicles form Woolworths (sadly no more) that kept me in wide silver and gold tinsel for several years. These were discounted after the festive season. It is well worth a look. We don't have any Dollar stores locally, but I will be keeping an eye out for deals like this.
Cheers,
A.
I found some of that hollow body braid in many colors at the craft shop (Hobby Lobby and JoAnnes both had some).
Marked down to half off and like twenty feet in each package. JoAnnes had a bit larger size.
I bought pearl and chartreuse from each store.
Now I have lots for covering popper bodies an tying some minnow patterns that I use.

Is this hollow mylar cord? I haven't found that yet.

Bob,
It's what they sell in fly shops as 'body braid'. Plastic stuff woven into a tube. A bit of a metallic or pearlized shine to it.
Unlike what I know as 'mylar', it has no core. Used to be hard to find this stuff even at fly shops. All of a sudden, it's everywhere, and unlike the fly shop, it's inexpensive.
I use it for overbodies on foam poppers and for bellies on a rattling pike minnow I tie, a few other things.
