I think I may have already posted this photo from my June/July trip to the Yellowstone area.
While fishing the Madison, we heard a hot rumor that Kelly Galloup (owner of Slide Inn) on the Madison River had a huge brown in his freezer.
The story, as told to me by Kelly, is as follows:
A 13 year on a guided float hooked a really big brown on the Madison. They released it, but heard that it subsequently died and was laying near the bank of the Madison. Kelly knew the approximate location and went looking and found the fish in "good mountable condition". He brought it back to his shop and had to cut in into two pieces to fit in his shop's freezer.
A day or two later, I asked if I could see the rumored fish. He took me back to his freezer and let me take this picture of the largest part of the fish.
Be careful wading out there!!!!
