    Default S-Fly

Many moons ago I gave a friend a Roman Moser Snowflake Dun and a Marjan Fratnik F-Fly. Over the years he morphed the two - into what I call an S-Fly. It has been slaying trout and grayling for him on many rivers across Europe.

    S-Fly
    Hook: Grip 14723BL #14-18
    Thread: Gudebrod 8/0, white
Body: Rabbit and synthetic mix, dark olive
    Wing: CDC
    Sighter: Snowshoe hare, cream

    Cheers,
    Hans W

    Hans,

You have the eyesight of an osprey; I'd have to tie that on a #2 octopus hook with a full snowshoe's foot lashed to the top to see it. Nice fly.

    Regards,
    Scott

    Hans,
That sure looks like a large micro CDC caddis with snowshoe fibers added?

Sorry Hans. Which of the two flies mentioned above the image are a micro CDC caddis?

Byron, the CDC Micro Caddis was basically an F-Fly, with a key modification on how the wing was tied it. It has since been re-named to Improved F-Fly.

The S-Fly, as stated above, draws aspects from the F-Fly and the Snowflake Dun.

    Cheers,

I didn't know the micro caddis had become the F-Fly (was basically the same as)..........or that there was now an Improved F-Fly...........

So, did the S-Fly come from the F-Fly or the a Improved F-Fly?
