    Default Red Hooks...

    Hi all,
Was in CO this week just past and picked up some Daiichi 1273 red hooks from a shop - was wondering what people thought of them here on FAOL. I saw another post here on a San Juan site - but anyone use these hooks with patterns up in the North East?

    JW,

I use a lot of Midge Patterns tied on red hooks from Daiichi and Gamakatsu. My son Michael, who lives across the river from you, took a bunch to try out on the Swift and Farmington. They really work well here in CA, on Eastern Sierra tailwaters...

He caught this Brown, on the East Walker river, at twilight...

    ...on this guy...

Hans - not sure, am struggling to remember any VFS in my history, which probably means a no! But am a great fan of your videos in any case.
VFS is what exactly (in case my memory is dreadful)

plannettrout - those look excellent - can I ask what the dubbing is behind the bead, is that some kind of sparkle chenille wound round the hook? And I assume the body is flash or ribbon with wire ribbing. If these work on the Farmy, I'm using the hooks ASAP.

planettrout - that stuff looks hot! Will buy some and try out.
I'm pretty sure those aren't Daiichi 1273 hooks you have there - which model are they?
