    Default Fly design name?

    A little help?

What do you call the style of dry fly where a hackle is wrapped around each separate wing kind of like a diagonal parachute?

I think the Beatty's did an article on it once for one of the mags?

    Thanks,

    -Steven

    Steven, here is the article:

Al and Gretchen Beatty are really great people to know and visit with. I love seeing them at the FFF shows in Washington and Montana (they will be at West Yellowstone at the FFF Fly Fishing Fair this late September. Frank Johnson is really a neat guy as well, and a good person to know. He should be at the fair as well.

    Thanks Byron.

    Here's the deal.

    1) I like split wings
    2) I like my flies to land upright
    3) How a catskill is going to land is anybody's guess. This drives me absolutely nuts.
    4) So I like Wonderwing parachutes. I like Proper's Perfect Dun design.

    5) I like Royal Wulffs, but the parachute thing doesn't look good to me. Proper's design doesn't really go well for a Royal Wulff.

    6) I think the water walker design could be the ticket. I'm not sure why it should be so tough, but we'll see.
