There will, unfortunately, always be people around who will take advantage of another's generosity of materials or spirit. Materials you can get over. Spirit ... well, that's altogether another kind of "hurt". How they can live with themselves is beyond me. Perhaps they can laugh ... I can't.

I remember him wanting to sell some things so he could afford a trip upstate for his daughter's cancer treatments.I wasn't interested or could afford any thing he had so I sent him $20.00.Now that isn't much but being a Vet living on a fixed income it matters.I did notice him showing up in different areas did peak my interest.Being a disabled Vet,I can not comprehend another Vet ripping off any one.I know what they live through.Sad world.Ray

thanks for alerting us. preying on the kindness of others is about as pathetic as it gets. using cancer and military sevice takes it to an even more despicable level. it always amazes me to see how little people care about their legacy and their name.

I do fish near the Staunton area occasionally, and I'd be happy to go say "Hi" to this guy.
"Well, after three years for my SS Disability pension, I was finally approved. They paid me retroactive until last year which gave me a decent nest egg. Now, working the wine armband table at the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival, The Orvis Exibition table was right across from me well, curiousity drove me to see what they had to offer. Long story short, I ended up buying the H2 Outfit with the reel and Hydros line. I chose the 8'6" 5wt. mid-flex and If I'm not mistaken the reel is a Mirage reel also. The best part is, I went to pay for it and because I am an Orvis Pro Program recipiant so I received $500 off the outfit. Needless to say, come Tuesday/Wednesday, I'm going to be one happy camper."

I'll send you a double dip cone anytime! My wife is a breast cancer survivor and we've been active in a lot of support and advocacy groups. Just hearing that he used such a devastating illness (and his alleged daughter, no less makes me see red).I hope the best for you.

I am just glad that I was able to take on the task.
Which reminds me, I sent some stuff to "fishtooth", too - is he another scammer? I saw he posted some patterns, but never a thank you, and I don't imagine I was the only one.
