Thread: Crappies Are a GO!

    Default Crappies Are a GO!

Crappies are really turning on in my area.
A cessation in the cold and rainstorms has allowed the local waters to clear up a bit, and the water is starting to warm up again.
Here's some fishing pictures from this week:
My 2nd fly-rod 13" Crappie of the year:

Here's some other Crappies, many of them have some big bellies on them:

They are starting to get the black "spawning color" around their heads & throats:

    Also caught some chunky bass:

    And this BEAST Green Sunfish!

Microjig. AKA "Springbrook Wunder". Mine are tied on 1/80th or 1/100th oz jigheads. I've been setting them about 12" below a strike indicator.
Here's what the microjigs I tie look like:

Good looking jigs. Thanks, Dave. I've got some #8 red sickle hooks with 1/64 oz. heads. Going to make some thing with them.

HMMMM - could you do those killer jigs with bead heads or cone heads. I know yo don't get the "jig" action, but that;s what I have in stock!

Nice report! Ditto on the Beast Sunfish! I need to get me some of those micro jigs. It has to be easier than tying basically the same type fly using barbell eyes.
