    Default Perry's Bugmeister SBS

What's not to like about a fly with this much peacock?; developed by John Perry of Missoula, MT. Couldn't find any instructions, but it seemed pretty easy to figure out a tying sequence that worked.

    hook - Tiemco 5212 #10
    thread - Uni 6/0 camel
    tail - elk hair
    body - peacock herl
    underwing - Krystal Flash pearl
    wing - elk hair
    thorax - peacock herl
    post - Congo Hair white
    hackle - grizzly

    Part 1

mash barb, attach thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to point above barb

wrap back to initial tie-in, clean/stack a clump of elk and measure for length (let it extend a bit more than hook gap width past the bend)

trim to length, tie in and wrap back to point above hook barb

    tie in some peacock herl

twist herl with tying thread and wrap forward to initial tie-in; tie off/trim peacock

tie in some Krystal Flash; fold it back over body

clean/stack another, denser clump of elk and measure for length (let it extend to the tail)

    Part 2

trim to length and tie in

    wrap wing with non-tox wire

tie in a clump of Congo Hair (or your favorite sub); post it up and tie in hackle (shiny side out)

tie in some more peacock herl at the hook eye

twist peacock with thread, create thorax (wrap back over wing tie-in) and finish with thread at base of post

grab hackle and start wrapping post from top down

cram as many wraps of hackle as you can; let it hang down, take 2 horizontal turns of thread at base of post

half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim KF and post and you're done

    Regards,
    Scott

nice tie, i was wondering, ive never really been into parachutes... does it really matter if you leave the top of the post? ive assumed the only main reason is for an indicator, or am i wrong?

Sure, you could trim it. Me, I need the indicator; in fact, if I could find a way to mount a flare gun on the fly, I would.

I like it. Took me a minute to figure out the wire wrap! A wire tie, cable tie also. Nice, when I can get back to the vise, right hip replaced last Monday, I'll try one, or a bunch!

Mike, Good luck with your hip rehab. I watch and assisted my wife through both sides. After a week I think you have the worse behind you. Hers was last year 10 years after her first, the scar was about 1/3 as long, they have really made great progress in the last 10 yeas.

I like the idea of the wire wrap while tying. I may have to start doing that.....
