sinking lines?

Crappies are my main target as well when they go deeper. I'm hoping to really got them hard this year.

I use floating flies on my sinking line often. have a 5 ft leader on the end of the line and the flies will stay above the weeds.
When I use nymph flies I gather weeds.

I'm surprised no-one mentioned using small split shot to weight the line. Clip it on where the line and leader join.

I did mention it....chuck and duck, but the Provo River Bouncer is a cool setup for rivers. Just remember to add leader/tippet for river depth and speed.

i just started fly fishing last year, so I have only used a floating line. If i wanted to fish clousers and streamers, will they get down ok with floating line, or is a sinking line the way to go?

Personally, for the kind of water I fish, lakes and big farm ponds, floating lines won't cut it for most streamers. I love my Teeney T-200 sinking head line. It's about 10 years old and casts like a dream. I've caught a ton of big bass on it too.
