Thread: Redington Warranties?

  1. #1

    Default Redington Warranties?

Anyone have any experience with Redington's warranty? I just bought a rod, but it didn't come with a warranty card as many other companies have. The BPS guy who sold me the rod said it has a warranty, but didn't have a warranty card, so here's a couple of questions?

    1. Does it come with a warranty card?
    2. If I'm an idiot and break it in a door, will I be able to replace that part at a minimal cost or would it void my warranty? (On their website it seems to indicate that should that happen, it voids the warranty.)
    3. Has anyone ever had any personal experiences with this?

I had a Red Start 8'6" 5 wt rod that the tip top came loose on. I sent it in and they replaced it without question in a very timely manner. That was when they were still an independent company in Fl though. Don't know how things go now that Sage owns Redington. I'm sure they are fine since the Sage warranty works pretty well from what I hear.

Redington doesn't seem to send warranty cards. I did send a rod in a year ago following instruction on their web and received aa new tip in a timely manner

Yeah Castwell, I was surprised too when BPS had a bunch of Redington Rods there, but yeah they carry them now apparently!

So no warranty card then huh?

I bought a new Redington from a small tackle shop on Cape Cod and same thing- no card. He wrote out a detailed receipt for me so I could use it as proof I bought it new if need be... So I guess its not unusual to not get the card. This was 2 years ago BTW...Good Luck, and watch those car doors...

I broke my Wayfarer five piece last year while steelhead fishing. I never got a warrenty card with it. Just sent it with the required check, a letter explaining what was wrong and they sent back a new rod. Not just a replacement section but a new rod! I was certainly please. I agree with JC they are a good company!

I've dealt with them on wader replacement with no problem. Just email the warranty/service dept. The only issue I have is with waders they charge $20 for handling/shipping

My experience; send it rod with $$ as indicated on their web site. wait a short time and a new rod arrives.

They state clearly that they do not care why it broke, including car doors, improper rod use etc.
