My Uncle Lawrence joined the Marines in 1950. He signed up before they drafted him and chose infanftry combat arms. He served the duration of the Korean War in a rifle unit as well as several tours of duty in Vietnam. As a yong boy I remember how he was treted when we went to the airprot to pick him up after his last tour in Vietnam. The Master Gunnery Sergeant did not say a word or bat an eye despite all the insults that were being hurled his way. He was my inspiration to join the United States Army. He was ao very proud of me. Holidays at Grandma's house were so cool with the Gunny and the G.I. there to share them together.
God Bless the United States Marine Corps!
