Are they relatively docile when you land them? The Florida Gar we get down here twist themselves up in the leader and make a mess...

I bet that was a fun fight! I've tangled with 5' long Long-Nosed Gar on catfish gear, and have a nice time with those.

This one was pretty laid back. Just kinda slid him up onto the bank. When I started to pick him up then he started twisting. I've caught Bowfin on the fly and they really put up a good fight!
