    Default 4pc blank

I am getting ready to build a 4pc rod and need to know how to find the spine, or is it not necessary on multipiece rods?

People will argue with me but it is absolutely necessary. The rod I made for you has the guides on the spine, actually the belly.

Holding the tip end of the section in the palm of your left hand, put the butt end of the section on a hard surface with the section at a 30-45* angle. With your right palm, put a bend in the section and roll it. It will want to settle in a certain spot. Mark BOTH ends of the section. It makes things easier. Repeat for all sections. The butt section will be a little more difficult to locate in some cases but you can locate it.

OK, Just to be clear Kevin. I do it with each individual piece, not all together? I know it sounds like a stupid question but, just want to make sure. I can't afford to replace it.

I find and mark the spline on each piece and then find it again for the entire rod and adjust accordingly. However, I'm so new to rod building so i am by no means an authority.

If you located the spine properly on each section, it should come out in the same place with the rod assembled. This is a good double check step to take.
