I went out yesterday and saw a Hummingbird Moth. It is about two inches long and is identical looking as a Hummingbird. At first I thought it was just a small Hummingbird until I got real close then wondered what it would be. I said to myself, well, it looks like a Hummingbird so, maybe it's called a Hummingbird Moth. I came inside and typed in Hummingbird Moth and sure enough, there was such a thing and so many diffent kinds.

When I was a youngster, we had a fair number of those Hummingbird Moths around the flowers. I haven't seen any in many years, though. They ARE pretty cool!

Oh man I love those dogs. When I was in college I worked for an industrial paint shop. One of our clients had two of those dogs. He built a cart for the dogs to pull his two daughters around the yard. They were gentle giants.Backyard critter....
I'm sure like most the praying mantis went unnoticed at first glance.
Trout don't speak Latin.
Here is a back yard critter from NZ, but I have to admit the hedge he is on is in my front yard!
