Default Question about the Castwell knot

JC...in your description of the Castwell knot, you said you weren't sure how it would hold against big-game fish, I guess Marlin or something. Understandable.
But what about 10-15 pound Atlantic Salmon?
I tried the nail knot and lost my leader in a tree to knot failure, so I've put my faith in "The Castwell," I would just be incredibly dissapointed if I lost my first Atlantic because I put more stress on the knot than it was designed to hold.

I have used the castwell in a pinch for light-duty stuff and it held up satisfactorily. I haven't tried it under unkind conditions, though.

You might consider the albright for line-leader and line-backing.

Well, it held a pretty nasty five foot 'cuda in the Bahamas and every Salmon I have ever caught out here. Kings, Chum, Coho, Pink. So,,, (knock on wood!) it has not slipped in, I think, about 55 years. Might be a bit longer.

(I will use it on the Atlantics at the FI this Aug.)

In another post (sinking line question) I referenced this knot being used for sailing. This knot (bend- in sailing terms) is used in lines to control sails. Imagine the force on this knot and its ability to hold a sail on a good stiff wind. Have never seen one let go- but then I've never sailed a hurricane.
