    Default Old Ideas revisited.

For the last two days I have been chasing LMB with success using a streamer tied with boa yarn. This got me to thinking about non-typical fly tying materials that were once the "talk of the town" and seem to be forgotten. Another such item you seldom hear about is punch yarn.

Any other items that deserve to be recalled?

Punch yarn is great. In fact the two ply acrylic, in the variety of colors availably, almost makes dubbing obsolete.
The problem is that it is so inexpensive that no suppliers want to handle it. You can buy about two lifetimes supply of any color for $1.50

I'm still holding onto and using a bunch of punch yarn I got from Ol'blue a couple of years ago. Great stuff with a ton of uses but getting harder to find.

Macrame seems to have cycled out with the coming of foam.
