Hey, you should see my tying area when it's not so organized!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the mother-in-law of all vises. It is the Matthias Vise. He only made them for a relatively short time in the early 90's. Now, he has begun making them again but in a more refined fashion. The thing I like about this one is the finely pointed midge jaws. Makes tying on small hooks great..
i am really liking that vise....
Please, support Project Healing Waters....Thank You
I address the rear of the hook directly from behind, with my thumb and index finger both parallel to the hook shank. This requires the heel of the hand to be behind and below the level of the hook shank. Most rotary vises don't allow this and the vise pictured would only compound the problem.
I primarily tie on a Regal. I use a Peak rotary sometimes, when it suits my purpose.
