Default Loss of another great FAOLer

I got an email last night that FAOL member & one of my first FAOL Friends, Al Thomas passed away yesterday morning after a lengthy battle with cancer. I understand there is no viewing.
Al was retired & worked part time at the Backpacker's Shop in Sheffield, Ohio until health issues took him away from that. Al was a good man, helpful & friendly to all who knew him. He will be missed. Prayers go out to all he left behind.

What was his moniker here on FAOL Mike?

He always went by his name, Al Thomas. He and the late JC were good friends too. He always went out of his way to give others a hand - knew his fly fishing very well. I didn't know about the cancer, so sorry.

Mike I am so sorry to hear this. I had wondered what had happened to Al. Prayers to you and all who had the honor of knowing Al.

Requiem aeternam dona ei Domine; et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen.

    (
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.)

En nomine patri, et filli, et spiritu sancti. Amen. (In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen)

My prayers are with you all.

I first met Al at the 2000 FAOL fish-in in State Collage and we became fast friends. We have fished together each year since. I have a few flies Al tied so I will still be fishing with him even if not in person. I did get to see and talk to AL just days before his passing he still had plans to get out and fish. Al also left me with a few techniques he wanted me to perfect for the BWO hatch. You will be greatly missed my friend
