Default I carefully re-read the bylaw...

...for the Middle Tennessee Chapter (MTC) of Creek Chubs Unlimited (CCU), and it didn't say anything about any species requirements for club officers. Therefore I wish to officially enter my name as a candidate to run for president of the MTC of CCU.

My credentials are excellent. On the rare occasions when I do catch a fish, it is generally small enough to count as a "minnow" regardless of actual species.
Although I sometimes accompany friends who are trout fishing, what I do seldom could be construed as trout fishing. (Just ask Kaboom1).
hNt has not only been seen to trout fish (upstream and dry) but to brag about it as well.
When word of Miss Betty's, Black Hills Rainbow Creek Chubs first surfaced, hNt displayed little or no interest in our attempts to organize a trip to fish for such a fine and exotic species of creek chub. No, he was heard to mutter something about "bluelining for brookies". !
I have caught creek chubs on dough balls, worms, mealworms, dry flies, wet flies, streamers, nymphs, spam, and Taco Bell (tm) leftovers.

I protect our prized and beloved resource. Not only do I almost always used barbless or de-barbed hooks, my releases are so prompt as to have other anglers questioning whether I actually caught any fish or not.

Since our bylaw has nothing to prevent a sincere toad from running for office, I shall do so.
(I'm also seeking this board's Swamp Witch endorsement.)

    Warm(water) regards,
    Ed
Current VP of the MTC of CCU.

Obviously, as a native of Mississippi and a current resident of Georgia for over 20 years I am not able to vote for you as President of this fine organization. However, sent $10,000 and I will begin your Georgia super pac. Attached is the first advertisement.

    EdD,
Do the by-laws say anything about pursuing the extremely rare Lakota chub as a requirement for becoming president of CCU? I feel unless one pursues the extremely rare Lakota chub one cannot fully appreciate the virtues of the creek chub.

As a Swamp Witch, I would be happy to endorse your run for office ... although ....
Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Do you get extra points for hornyheads? I would certainly think so!

My favorite freshwater fish, by the way!

The Lakota Chub is the same thing as the Black Hills Rainbow Creek Chub.

Not only does one get points for Horneyheads, but also for Stonerollers (where legal).

Furthermore, not only have I caught a number of seriously trophy Creek Chubs (i.e. < 2 inches long), I have never been so brash about it to have ever had one mounted !
(Or preserved in a pickle jar full of formaldehyde.)

    Regards,
    Ed

P.S. Uncle Jesse, that is the finest campaign poster I have ever seen. <sniffle>
(Except that you misspelled my name.)

P.P.S. A reference was made to the "by-laws" of the MTC CCU. Please be aware that, being a rather simple and frugal bunch of anglers, we could only spring for a single by-law. There has been some discussion of adding a second, but we fear that might appear presumptuous.

Well, I had heard rumors amongst the membership that I might have some serious competition in the run for the president this year. I look forward to a clean and honest campaign, without all the back stabbing, lying and slandering that goes on in a regular campaign. I'm sure my prestigous rival and competitor will agree, we don't want to mention anything that might be the least bit construed as being negative. Therefore, I will forego any mention of his being a toad and the possible spread of warts. I will also not mention that he has never made a backcast and had to duck to keep from getting hit in the head by a creek chub. these things will not be discussed in any form.

I am currently looking for an endorsement from the Island Nation of Ohio.

Also any rumors that I have started running for the hills because of a certain swamp witch is simply not true. If you'll notice my location, I can't run for the hills, I already live in the hills. However, if anyone here knows where there are any caves to hide in...

Also, any rumors of my having caught trout instead of creek chubs, are inherently false. And obviously not started by someone that I have actually fished with.

I don't recall having ever been hit in the head by a creek CHUB, but I've been brained a couple of times by creek CLUBS. (If that doesn't load Uncle Jesse's gun, nothing will.)

I'll try to eschew mud-slinging, as much as a toad can.

There's a perfectly lovely cave right next to that cauldron, over there...
(I don't know about one-horse towns, but this could end up being a two-toad race.)

I didn't realize that the rare Lakota chub was the same as the Black Hills rainbow chub. My apologizes but since I live outside the range of the rainbow chub I should be forgiven for my error.
I like a modest man and since EdD has never even pickled one of his trophy creek chubs he must be a saint, a saintly toad, just the man to lead CCU to a grand and glorious future.
