    Default Pike flies?

I've caught my first pike this year through the ice, and am giving some serious thought to trying to take a pike with my fly rod, but I have some time before the lakes open up. What would be a some good pike flies that I could sit down and tie up for the spring. I could use some tips on catching them as well, as the only ones I've caught have been on tip ups.

You'll find some interesting pike flies here. Also some debate about them.

Fishing on the surface for pike is like taking Viagara...check with your doctor to make sure your heart is in good enough shape. A pike coming out of nowhere and taking a diver can cause a heart attack.

Thanks, those are some great sites. Do you think there is any need for tying in a tandem hook in the rear of the fly, or is it pretty unnecessary, I'm entirely new to pike fishing.

To my experience, pike tend to totally engulf a fly, making a trailer unnecessary. They are a hoot on a fly rod, as are musky!

Derik, let me know how you do up there. We'll be back in that area this summer.
