    Default New Rod

I received my new rod today, a Cortland GRX, 7' 3/4 weight. It is a very nice rod. I haven't got too fish it yet but practicing the casting its very nice. I will get to field test it Saturday.

Way to go, fish4life! It's so neat going to a stream on opening day with a new rig. All that anticipation and the clock moving so slowly 'til then. Let us know how it went.

Yes it is so hard to wait until tomorrow. I can not put into words how badly I have fishin' fever right now. I will definately let you know how it works with a fish on the other end.

I got to use it this morning for a few hours. I was casting caddis and nymphs throughout the morning with some success. Caught 2 rainbows 13" and 16", and 3 little maybe 3 inchers. The rod held up amazingly. I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. The GRX loads the line great and is amazing while fighting a fish. I don't know if many of you have casted the GRX by Cortland, if not and your looking for a new rod for a low price you really should check out the GRX.

    Fish, ... Nice rods !!!

I used some for quite awhile until the shop "suggested" that I buy some, instead of "testing" them for 2 seasons. (got the CL's instead, ... but they're all nice rods).

Mine is a 7' 3/4 weight but I'm using WF5F Orvis Blue Hills fly line and its loading it very well.

I got back out around 6:20 and went up to McMichael Creek. I didn't have any success there using mayflies and caddis. My friend wanted "try" the rod a couple of casts and ended up using it from about 6:45 till 8:15 when we left. He used a yellow streamer and caught 2 rainbows on it. He said he loved how it felt in a battle. The first one he caught was in rapids and weighed at least 3 lbs, I'm thinking thats kind of big on the rod even though its a 3/4 weight, it's so small. When I caught mine this morning I was in shock and awe at how good the rod was for the price. UNBELIEVABLE!

If your looking for a new rod for a good price you reall really should check these out.

I'm going to Jacobsburg park tomorrow night for a little hopin' to hit some good hatches. Last year on the second day it was so hot that Cahills were hatching, hoping that happens again. Hope to see some of you guys throughout the season and good luck for the rest of it!
