    Default Waterproof Camera

Newegg has a Olympus 560WP camera for $59. Sounds like an excellent price for a stream camera. The link below has it discounted to $79., but with the promo code EMCJHD22 it drops to $59. I don't own this camera, just a heads up for anyone who might want one.

for those of you who arn't computer geeks, newegg is a well respected retailer, not some fly by night organization.

A quote from a news story yesterday; "backed the plan to hide 134.9 billion yen (US$1.73 billion) in losses tied to speculative investments.

Kikukawa quit the company last month as the scandal engulfed the camera and medical equipment maker, chopping about 80 percent off the value of its shares at one stage."

I wouldn't recommend buying the extended warranty...

    Lightbulb You get ...

    ... what you pay for.

This product is not currently on Olympus' website. There is some material / support on it in their archives.

I would be cautious of buying what appears to be a rather old model, and you may be getting a refurbished rather than new product.

Also, read the reviews. Man, that is one camera I would stay away from, for sure.

I have a friend who was part of the management team for the Toshiba plant in Lebanon, TN. He pointed out that factory refurbed products get a 100% quality check, first run products get spot checks. Since that time I have had no fear about buying refurb products and will probably lean toward them.

I just bought a camera after doing hours and hours of research. I guess the thing to think about is that with any point-and-shoot camera you're going to have trouble getting good pics in low light. (I imagine that underwater there's less light.) So it becomes a question of what do you want the photos for? For family snapshots, so to speak, or for posting on the web, any point-and-shoot will do.

Is there a basis for your preference? Amazon ships from one of their distributers for a $10. shipping fee. Newegg ships for free.
