Default Looking for a Quality Alaska Guide Service for Summer 2012

I'm a long time follower of FAOL but rarely post and I am looking for recommendations/advice. I did research earlier this year for an Alaskan Fly Fishing trip for summer 2012. I had settled on Hitaluga Guide Service for a 7 day float on the Talachulitna River. They offered a very good price and appeared to be a reputable outfit. I just learned they have shut down their operation in Alaska and are in Belize now.

So, I'm looking for advice on other Guide Services for a similar trip for the same timeframe. Wanted to do a bit more remote trip than just a week on the Kenai with lots of other anglers. Still want to try my hand at Kings on a fly rod as well as Rainbows, etc. This may be my only opportunity for a trip like this. I'm not getting any younger. Sorry to have rambled but I know there is a huge following of great anglers on this forum. Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Farrell

Larry Czonka has had good luck with guide services. His website has a referral page. Here's a link to his King Salmon guides.

The best lodge I have ever been to is the Copper River Lodge ON the Copper River. It is the only lodge on the Copper. The Copper River is one of if not the best rainbow trout river in Alaska. Other lodges fish the Copper but they have to fly in to do so.

When you get back from a day of fishing, the staff meets you with liquer at the dock. It only gets better from there. The meals are gourmet.

It is not a lodge that deals in volume with only 6 anglers a week.

I spent a truly marvelous week at this lodge about 15 years ago. It is still under the same management, so I assume it is still good.

Your first choice might be back in Alaska when you want to fish. Give them a call or email anyway. Many guides go south in the winter to stay in business.
