Default I love rebuilding these old rods!

This is a family rod I was asked to rebuild. It was reworked once before by another builder years ago here in the Denver area.

I stripped the rod, being careful to preserve the decal from the previous rebuild and the inscription as best I could. The reel seat was replaced with a rosewood burl seat with nickel plated hardware. I turned a Fenwick style grip from Flor grade cork and backed it up with the original winding check.

The guides were shot so they were all replaced. I used an agate stripper and stainless snakes wrapped with Medium Brown tipped with tan. Intermediate wraps of the same colors were applied, too.

The ferrules were shot so they were replaced and the sections were evened up length wise.

The rod and wraps are finished with polyurethane.

This rod is ready to go for another 50 years!

Gorgeous kproctor, just gorgeous!!!! No other rod material has the elegance of bamboo. I can't quite make out the sticker, is that an old H & I?

I have an old rod I just acquired, one tip still has the original hanging ring guides. I'm going to start on it this winter. 9 footer that is no doubt an old wet fly action.

Very nice as always Kevin but one question , did you use silk on this one? The wraps are so nice and slick I couldn't tell.

No. This one is wrapped with nylon. I haven't developed an affinity for silk as yet.
