Ah! I've seen this wing and a description before.

The first time was when I was in England (stopped at Farlow's (sp?)) and picked up a copy of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Journal (about the only thing I could afford in that store...damn, talk about expensive, but I digress). There were tying instructions for the "Step-over Dun."

And then, Allen McGee had an article in one of our mags a couple of years back, featuring instructions for the Secret Weapon Dun with the same kind of wing.

Yes I'm familiar with the article. It was the first one I had published. Must have been 2005 if memory serves. Unfortunately it is on an old computer drive and I can't get at it now.
Farlows is a little on the expensive side. Still you can't have a discount store with an address like that.
    Cheers,
    A.

I take it, then, that you folks have not seen or used Bing Lempke's extended body tying device?

The Lempke-Cordes tool is very similar in purpose to the Fishaus Extend-o-tool that used to be sold back in the early 80's. Just about any parachute tool can be used for the same purpose.

Yes, but I am selling mine and someone took issue with the way I described using it. I said that you put the vise in facing away from the tall stem which holds the hackle pliers. I am trying to get confirmation that it is positioned in that way.

I gave you that confirmation (I watched Bing tie and that's how he had it).
But you don't need me anyway. Think about it. Any alternative makes no sense. Regardless who may have proposed it.

Thank you, unfortunatly my writing career has suffered a lot, along with other things, over the past three years, but as I get back on my feet I hope to get going again.
    Cheers,
