Thread: Upper D

    Default Upper D

The Upper Deschutes is fishing really well right now. The Big Brooknasties are coming up from the lake and more will follow. There are some Crainbows still lingering as they come out of the lake to spawn and then return. This is one of the main reasons this stretch of the Deschutes is the last to open and one of the first to close. As long as summer finally decides to stick around the fishing should be really good as the fishing seems to be weather dependent?? Just bring the bug spray as the skeeters are really nasty and with the high water will more than likely get worse

    Cheers!!

You fishin those blue holes for the big brookies? I fished one several years ago after locating it by dumb luck (parked at several pull-offs, hiked back and found one after a few tries) and caught the biggest brookies of my life. I understand the Orygun state record brook trout - 9 lbs+ - came out of one. Need to get a tube or toon next time I'm out in Bend so I can explore a little. Also been hearing that the Cranebow fishin has been excellent. Nice, nice fishies!

Didn't come from the Blue hole(s) or the Brookie hole. There's a couple other places up there the "hold" but you have to really fight off the bugs and put in some time! But once you get to know it you can crush it!!
