    Hello, this is my first post so I hope you don't mine me butting in. I know at least some fish such as sharks can detect electro-magnetic fields although I'm not sure about trout. But, even if they can detect a magnetic field they should be attracted to it IMHO.

    I did some googling and it appears trout can detect electric and magnetic fields. Its worth experimenting with, especially the use of magnetic materials on a fly. Any movement of the fly relative to the fish will also create electric currents.

    I've got some magnetized and non-magnetized hematite (iron ore) beads so it'll be a fair test.

    You may have to begin screening job application's!! And, a $500,000.00 may not be enough as freshwater and saltwater testing should be done.
