It isn't really that big a secret. The secret is that most of the people that go there to fish it come away skunked.
    They're just fish, right? Right?

I'll vouch for that. Repeated baths in tomato juice have still not removed the smell.

I do protect this water as best I can, but, as Lew commented, it is not that secret. In fact as you drive by most of its length you could spit from the truck window and hit the water. The "secret" to "No-Tellum", is "how" you fish it so you don't come away with that 'skunk' smell! Believe me, I've stunk it up royal many times, but when its on, the rewards are great.

P.S.: For any of you FAOLers I would be honored to accompany you to and host your day on this special water. Here's a picture of Lew with one of the best fish we've ever taken on this gem:

I almost forgot to mention that one of this week's featured Fly of The Week submissions on the FAOL Home Page is my spring creek scud which accounts for around 75% of the big browns we catch on this particular spring, check it out and enjoy: http://www.flyanglersonline.com/

    Kelly,
What happens to that spring when the river's up and booming the way it is now. Does it wash out?

Which state is this in? That spot looks awfully familiar, but haven't been there in a few years. Can you at least give a state??

That's easy to do luckie. It's in SE Idaho. If you want/need to get closer than that, you'll need to PM Kelly. He didn't swear me to secrecy, but since he took me there, it's his perogative. It's one of those places that could easily be over run if it were widely publicized.

Right now, with the high water from the main stem of the river nearby, the spring is probably up 2-feet and a little off-colored. In fact, this past week they bumped the flow to around 21,000 cfs (not a typo), when this happens a natural barrier is overflowed and the spring will get a pretty good scour. Could be good, could be bad, depends on how long it lasts.

Idaho is the place and less than an hour from my home.
