    Default 2wt and #10 blk foam spider's

Went to a local pond the other night and got into the blue gills and a few bass on top. Started with a small popper and they kept missing it so I went down to a #10 blk foam spider with red legs.May 9 2011 002.jpgMay 9 2011 008.jpgMay 9 2011 012.jpgMay 9 2011 009.jpg

Good-looking fish! I've been having that issue lately too...missing the majority of the strikes on my foam topwaters. Not sure if its because most of the fish are just small, or I just need to tie these in a shape the fish can get in their mouths easier...

Good looking fish Steve. Dave, last year I had the same problem with gills hitting my popper. The gills were just to small to take the fly, they thought they were bigger than they really are.

It looks like that Kansas crowd is trying to shift the center of the fly fishing universe. If y'all keep this up, Gierach will be dispacthed to investigate and write an article.

Now ya'll get Miss Betty back out a-chasin' them 'gills. Pi'tures, we wants pi'tures.

Mr Gierach is welcome to fish with me any time, just have to blindfold him till we get to the pond.

I was using a popper with a nymph dropper for a while at the fish-in last year, and finally got rid of it because it seemed that the little ones were harassing the popper, while the big ones took the nymph.
