Default Let's See your best rendition of Whitlock's Red Fox Squirrel Nymph

    Hi,

I was brave enough to post a picture of my recent take on Dave's famous nymph. I would like to see other renditions of his nymph. You guys up to it??

    Thanks,
    Byron

    Byron,
I am not trying to be a smart-***, but I do not have the recipe for this nymph.
I have a very nice fox squirrel skin that has not been used nearly enough,
and it is wee while since I tied a nymph.

Don't bother Byron, I had a look on Dave Whitlock's site.

Dave tied it lots of ways & sizes depending on the bugs.

Yes, he did, so let's see your choice.

When I first became familiar with him, he really only tied it the original way - the first one shown on his add above.

If anyone wonders if these flies catch fish, I caught a two foot northern tonight on a #12 bead head fox squirrel nymph.
Then after landing that toothy thing I failed to retie the fly to the leader and lost it to the weed bed.

So I realize that this isn't really a red fox squirrel nymph but it is the closest I have and since few people are posting up their versions I'll add mine.
