Not too long ago I flew back to my folks house in Kansas. I knew there would be some serious downtime in the evenings so took my tying kit and carried it on. At SFO no one at TSA batted an eyelash but in the way back at Denver I had to pull it all out and show them what it was. After patiently explaining it was all for making flies for fishing she just let it all go. Untold amount of weapons in that kit (I had checked the scissors and glue) but no problems getting it on.

Thanks all for the wonderful advice, I hope this helped others as well as it has helped me to clarify things. The thing is I live in Bend, OR and have over a 3 hour drive to PDX so can't afford to have uncertainties with what may or may not be acceptable. Therefore, it's UPS certified which definitely seems to be the way to go, as my initial gut reaction was to begin with.

Next question... What's fishing in MT now (been seeing a little runoff starting to get big in a few gauges), or along half the I-90 corridor?

    Thanks again
