I'm starting to get excited. I'm looking forward to seeing the results on this one!!
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

Mine are in the mail - best looking cap spiders on the planet...AND they seriously catch fish!

    THANKS FOR LETTING ME PLAY!
Thank God for my wife, the midge nymph and those hapless Iowa Hawkeyes!

    Hi Blue,

Put the flies in the mail today.

Pattern: Peacock and light olive no hackle bugger:

    Hook: #10 Mustad 9672
    Bead: 3/32 brass
    Thread: Olive
    Tail: Light olive rabbit
    Body: Peacock

My apology that they did not go out sooner. My wife has been out of town to help our her older sister, as her husband passed away a bit over two weeks ago, and I have had entirely too many irons in the fire lately.

Blue the extra flies are for you.

I did goof a bit, in that I had signed up for a #12 bugger, and today realized that I had tied them up as #10s.

    Regards,

    Gandolf

DOH! Sorry - forgot to include my recipe.

Normally the cap spider is all black - but I've been experimenting a bit and have found this patter particularily effective:

HOOK - 1/132 oz jig, head painted with black enamel
BODY - Brown & black micro chenille
    THORAX - Black medium chenille
LEGS - Brown & black rubber centipede legs

I've tied a number of different patterns off of the traditional cap spider and have found them all to be deadly at different times of the year.

STILL HOPING TO MAKE IT TO THE FISH-IN!
Thank God for my wife, the midge nymph and those hapless Iowa Hawkeyes!
