OK, so if I tolk you fellow FAOL'ers the details of a fantastic Permit I caught on the fly last month you would most likely not have believed me. So, I now provide proof of what will likely be my most memorable catch ever. No, not the biggest fish I've ever caught. Not even nearly the largest Permit I've ever caught but the circumstances surrounding the catch is what really made it special.

    Check it out . . .

BTW - Fly used was one of Capt. Justin Rea's covert crabs tied on the size 1 Mustad Signature C68SZ

That is pretty cool! Awesome you were able to recover your rod...and with the fish still on it!

Great film! I really enjoyed it! Now I know how to get a tangle out of my fly line and not lose the fish!!: )

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.

Sorry, but I would have just pointed the rod at him and said you won, instead of throwing $1000 worth of equipment overboard. Never knowing if you would be able to retrieve it or not.

I am sitting here battling bronchitis and you just totally made my day! What an awesome video, fish and everything! Congratulations on a fine outing!

I can only imagine what was going through your mind when the rod slipped out of hand. Whew, you got it back with a huge fish too!

    Dude! That was insane!

Loved every second of the video. So far, that is the best fishing video I have seen this year.

Thanks for sharing...and glad you got the rod back and landed the beast. Way too cool.

    Speechless!

My heart would have broken. What is that rig worth? Congrats on the best possible outcome!
