    Default soft hackle bee

    I tried to come up with a pattern that would immitate a drowning honey bee .

    I like it too Fred. You will have to let us know how you did with them. A couple of years ago I tied up this pattern http://globalflyfisher.com/patterns/bumblebee/
    I had looks but no takes. I think your pattern is closer to what I would need.

    Is that a scud hook?

    Thanks nighthawk and Lake Erie High Ball . I can't believe you didn't have any takes on your bumble it looks awesome. I have some bee hives near one of my ponds and wanted to tie a fly that would immitate a drowning bee.The hook is a white river (Bass Pro) WR-069 curved shank size 12.

    Nice fly!!

    While I have caught a few fish on a McGinty, I mostly fish a dry version. I wouldn't BEE without it in late summer when the Yellow Jackets are at their annoying worst!
