Thread: Punch Yarn

    Default Punch Yarn

I was looking into buying some punch yarn online at http://www.punchneedlemarketplace.com/, but there are multiple kinds. I do not want to buy a kind that is not good because I dont want to have to keep on getting different spools. Which one is the best for tying flies?

The yarns I've seen are pretty much the same. Three twisted strands in Acrylic. I buy what ever I see on sale when I need some. Be aware that a spool of yarn will last a fly tyer a long, long time.

Check out your local goodwils. I have found plenty so cheap I have a enough to last me a long time. I prefer the yarn that is cut as it seems to be much stiffer.

The ones I have that still have a label on are...."Purr-fect Punch" acrylic....the older labeled one says 2 ply and the newer labels don't say but looking at them they are 2 ply...like REE I had thought 3ply but I guess not. I'm sure they are all 2 ply and I have a lot of them...started buying years ago when Wal-Mart still had it. Ebay can be a source now also.
