I usually don't carry a net. If I do, I can plan on a skunk day. I did see some folks using a fanny pack or chest pack using this. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishi..._SEQ_103892580 They seemed to be very happy with it. Don't know if the net brought them a skunk day or not, but it surely would have for me.

If you aren't using a vest you should be good enough to land a fish without a net.

I use a carabiner attached to the belt and have a magnetic release with bungee on the net.

I finally bought one of these, after trying different magnetic attachments, & it works great for me.

Mike, Does the net stay attached to the device?

Yes, but it is no problem & it has a "quick release". I hang my net separately when I get off the water. BTW, My net is a long handled Brodin Cutthroat & it is held securely. Here is a good pic from Cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Gear-...tt=gear+keeper
FYI: I did my research on line, then checked Gear Keepers website for local dealers & purchased mine locally.

That's one I always get a kick out of: the truly GOOD fly fishermen don't use a net.

No nets, no indicators (or for the REALLY good, no nymphing at all). There's more as I recall, it's just that I have a hard time keeping up with all the things I need to aspire to in hopes of reaching that exhalted plateau.
