Default St Croix SCIII 7'9", 4 pc, 3w

This is the last of a trio of rods for one customer. It's built on a St Croix SCIII 7'9", 4pc, 3w blank. The Struble D-2 in nickle silver and teak insert backs up a custom grip turned a bit oversize for his hand and accented with green burl to go with the blank. A Golden Witch agate stripper leads to chrome single foot guides wrapped with light gray silk wraps tipped with black. Jungle Cock inlays finish it off.

    Thanks for looking!

Very nice work there young man. I have a little 3 wt. laying in a rack I need to finish this winter but I can not approach that skill level.

This one was WORK. I used silk sewing thread and it had so many fuzzies. You have no idea how much it took to get a nice smooth finish on those wraps. It came out well, though. The pictures do not do those wraps justice. They actually went transparent with just a hint of a smoke colored tint to them. Without the black tipping, you might not know where the wraps ended and the blank began.

    Kevin,

    Very nice build.

The colors in the grip with that color blank and the wraps….I just can't stop looking at it.

I have to leave the rob building section now….If my wife catches me she knows where it will lead.
    Thanks Old Man GO IRISH!
