I've got lots of bronze mallard too. I actually got that from Herter's at something like a buck an ounce. Basically, everything I tried as a substitute looked pretty good on the fly and I don't think the fish will show much preference. 8T

My Problem is most of my duck feathers came from some duck hunters I don't even know, but the guy my wife works for knows them and ask them to get me some feathers. Only problem in my full 5 gallon bucket I keep them in are mixed. I have Wood Duck, Mallard, Pin Tail and widgeon. Actually came from this lake I live on and some in South Louisiana from another guy. I wish they were not all mixed up, but they are.

So you have a picture of what you need?

My opinion.... hooded merganser flank would probably be the best substitute. But bronze mallard is just as good.
Season opens in less than a month. I might have some available by first of November if you need some.

Mao, that's the BEST part! Here's a pic I dug up from my archives... for the folks here who don't know what they look like. My favorite duck!

    Hi QK,

That is one handsome bird and not a feather out of place. All the pellet holes must be on the other side . Thanks for sharing! 8T
