    Default Thank You FlyAnglers OnLine

I just deleted from my favorites a site I've been participating in of late due to it being from my home state a bit south of where I am now. After trying to participate I found almost every thread digressed due to a few who seem to have taken it upon themselves to be the thread steering committee. They usually ended up in a dogfight with foul language and sexual references abounding. Despite repeated tries to ask forum members to be and act civil, with vehement responses, I realized that it wasn't a site for me and left.

Now, to the gist of this thread - THANK YOU FAOL and administrators, especially owner Deanna, for making and keeping this site such a user friendly place to come and talk about fly fishing and all of it's accompanyng addictions .

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who participate here. I know there have been instances where opinions have differed and sometimes egos have become involved, nevertheless it is a wonderful place to come and find folks who choose being kind over being right and practice the art of agreeing to civilly disagree. When that hasn't happened, admin folks are there to jump in the middle of it and help us all to get along. Thank you!

Well, that is my 'rant' for the day, so let's get back to flyfishing and tying discussions!

    Kelly,

I'll second that 'Thank You.' I've done my fair share of surfing around only to have much the same experience as you did. This truly is a great site, with some of the best folks I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know.

    kelly,

the digression of threads happens on ALL forum/bulletin sites, including FAOL (FAOL is not void of "hijackers") but at least here the foul language and sexual inuendos isnt tolerated as it is on lets say the "Drake" forum (am i ever sorry to post a fly pattern over there). some of the perpetrators of bad vibes have been sent on their way and are no longer posting here.

i too used to post on numerous forums/bulletin boards, but i find myself coming back here more often than not.

Well said Kelly, as far as I can tell this is the cream of the crop, especially when it comes to flyfishing. Deanne and the admin does an excellent job of keeping things civil and maintaining an environment where well behaved visitors are welcome, good information is shared and people genuinely seem to care for one another.

    Kelly,

Being new to this site and new to forums in general I would have to say that I am impressed by the civility/ friendliness and outright generosity of the folks that make up the FAOL
family. I hope to be able to contribute more myself in the future. There are literally thousands of hours of enjoyment contained on this site and the posted links. I,m like a kid in the proverbial candy shop. WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!! Let the flyfishing begin!!!!!

    Regards, Dave S.

I've got to get on this bandwagon too. I've been here for a long time. The polite attitudes and the grace of the folks at this site is nothing less than habit forming to me. I've met and fished with several of the people at this site, and they have become instant and life long friends. I've been to many other sites and nowhere else is the friendly atmosphere of this site matched. Thanks to not only the owner and admins, but to all the folks that participate here. It's nice to have cyber place to call home.

Well put, Kelly. FAOL is always the first website I visit morning, noon, and night.
