Default July is over, so what did you tie?

Alright here are a few of my recent ties. Now it's your turn. FAOL fly tying is a little slow right now. It is too hot to fish, so let's get the tying incentives now for getting ready for fall.

It is never to hot to fish. I just tied up half a dozen weighted wooly buggers in size 6. Soon as I get off the net I am heading to the Kankakee River to fish for some smallmouth wooohooo

Then I worked on a mysis shrimp:

Cool looking shrimp. You ought to do a FOTW on that one.

It is 6:15 pm and it is 99 degrees out right now. There is a heat advisory out as well. When it is in the high 90's here, and the heat index goes from 103-110 or so...that is much too hot for me. It is hot at 8:30am, and you can be pouring sweat with the humidity. But then again you live in Indiana, and I live in Texas, there is a difference.
On to Woolly Buggers, that is one of the best producing flies of all time, I love them.

Those were some cool looking foam grasshoppers, they sure do work. Glad you decided to give them a whirl. You never know what might decide they are in the mood for a hopper. I saw a lady who was fishing for bream with crickets once...and instead of a bream, she caught a HUGE catfish...it was so big she needed help to get it in. Some of my best fish have been off of a foam grasshopper.

I tied up some foam hoppers, using a different pattern and some bead head (clear glass bead) soft hackle caddis. Maybe the best were a foam hopper and frog on safety pins for Tanner to put on his hat.

Attachment 5426Great flies everyone. I came up with this #4 'renegade' a couple of months ago and it's producing really well. Yesterday fished it all day and wound up with 50 or 60 smallies same fly, no damage seen. Retied to the tippet a couple of times though.
