    Default First morning ...

since taking a bad step () and being bitten by a spider ... twice ... on the first day of or fishing trip, that my legs are the same size! Compression stocking is a great thing! Wonder, with the amazing results for my leg, if they make one big enough for my butt!

Gee, sounds like you had a great trip, Betty. Did you get to fish?

About the only thing that kept me fishing was standing in the icy cold water! Couldn't do cold compresses on the stream for the swelling, so went one better (in my estimation) and stood in the water! Still had ice over much of the waters. SOOOO much snow! Holy cow!

Broke in my new bamboo from my boys ... it works wonderfully, and is impressive looking with fish slime on the grip!

    Betty,

As long as you weren't seeing stars in the middle of the day you're fine, lol.

Betty, what kind of spider bit you? Did you bite it back? You only have two legs/feet to bite but a spider has eight.
I am sorry to hear about your troubles.
You know that I hate that you have had the discomfort and annoyance.
(I'm the one that supposed to be causing that... )

    Take care,
    Ed

    Betty,

Had similar experience just before a Central Washington FI. The morning we were leaving I got bit by a spider on the leg, resulting in swelling and soreness. Couldn't even have fun fishing a favorite spot I was so uncomfortable (no wading allowed). I think we may have come back early as well.

What kind of spider? A mean one! One that didn't like to be smacked! He bit me once, I smacked him, he dropped further down on my leg ... yes, the SAME LEG!! ... and bit me again! Not nice! He left a good sized hole in my leg at each bite, and almost instantly, it swelled up like an elephant leg! I also learned that I should NOT put a regular, old fashioned band aide on my skin. I apparently am allergic to the latex in it, which caused further swelling, itching, and then more pain. Two and a half weeks later, you can still see the teeth holes from the spider, and the complete outline of the first band aides!! Ya gotta laugh ... cuz if I didn't I'd have chewed off my leg that first night!

And you do it so well!!!

    REE,
    That's just plain SAD!!
HWMBO was enjoying HIS fishing and didn't want to leave early, or even drive to the nearest doctor ... 45 miles one way ... and miss out on the fish!! Oh, well. I lived through it!

Spinner, that's a great story on your blog. I disagree with your assessment however. I think spiders like you and Betty quite a bit, taste like chicken. I hope Betty and you full recover from your injuries. A friend of mine swears by the pot likker resulting from cooking "down" broadleaf plantain and putting it on spider and insect bites. He told me the results on a brown recluse bite his mom had was amazing. He crushed a leaf and rubbed it on a wasp sting which resulted in no swelling at the bite site. It's a old folk remedy apparently.
