Thread: Bamboo Query

    Default Bamboo Query

I'm relatively new to casting bamboo. And I have a question :

I've made and cast 3 different PMQ Midges, one 10wt PMQ (self taper), and now have just finished and fished 2 hex Garrison 212E's. ....

The question is : Does all bamboo cast so sweetly (compared to graphite) ? If it does, I migh tnot go back to graphite.

Had the hex out Sunday, and tossed 50ft of line like nothing. Sure, the rod scolded me when I cast outside it's taper allowances, but man, I tell you - I'm loving that rod.

Pics - sure ... (even in the shade today, the reflective light was overbearing for the camera).

Good looking rods Darrell and interesting reelseat innovations. Do you mind saying where you got those reelseats? They do look familiar.

If you like boo that much, and who doesn't, don't ever buy a Kusse Quad. If you do, you'll be addicted to the dark side forever. He makes some of the nicest fish sticks in existence. I'd give up a lot for a Kusse Black Troll, 7 1/2' , 4 weight.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

Sweet rods. Thanks for sharing. I've cast and fished a few bamboo rods myself and just love them. Keep up the good work.

    thanks All

MM - reel seat hardware came from Acid Rods. (insert woods I pick local growth, cork & ferrules fron Janns Netcraft, bronze guides-snakes and thread from Golden Witch ..... like to spread the wealth, as it goes).

Lotech - yeah, I've heard that about his rods. As I figgured I'd never be able to outright afford one, I'd start making them (although I;m wondering about that with the $$$-flow I've sunk in so far). Heck, I'm ages away from that level, but they are working out alright - for now. Have a Dickerson 7012 in the works right now. Hit a section of my favorite stream that is too long for the 8ft - need a shorter pole.
