    Default Montana/Wyoming Fly Lists

    Hello everyone,

Going back out to Montana to fish the Bighorn for 3-4 days and then down to Wyoming to fish in Yellowstone for a few days. I have a lot of flies from previous trips, just curious if anyone would be willing to share their own lists on what they will take or have taken on thier trips. The lists that I have are basically the ones given by each of the shops that are out there, but when we fish with the guides, we have rarely if ever used any of the flies that we have brought.

    Regards,

    joe

Wow.........thanks a bunch Normand........I think..that I can tie some of those.....they are small but don't seem to be too intricate.

    Good stuff.

When are you making your way into Jellystone?

If late July/Early August, for Soda Butte, Lamar Rivers, I'd suggest terrestials (ants, small hoppers), and Sparkle PMD's.

I can't say about fly fishing but there's a lot of feed lots in Kansas.

Humpy is another good suggestion, for the Gallatin & Madison rivers. It does a great imitiation of the white pine moth. (I think that's what it's called) My time their last summer, every evening this was a huge hatch and the trout were gulping the entire way along the river.
