    Default Nashville flood

Many probabaly heard about the recent flooding in Nashville. The Opry Land area got hit pretty hard. The Opry Mills Malls next to Opry Land, had over 2 feet of water in the entire mall. The reason I mention this is because there's a Bass Pro Shop in that mall.

For you musicians, there's also a Gibson outlet store in the mall. Good thing Gibson hangs the expensive instruments up high!

Most of the stuff at Bass Pro is MADE to get wet (even if the package isn't), but the classic Les Paul's at Gibson?

The business will recover, they have insurance or insurance reserves for these cat events. The good news is lots of the people put out of work will find work in recovery efforts. Prayers are need for the families who lost homes and loved ones. I think over 30 lives lost. I was told the Cumberland River crested over 51 ft. above normal pool. Obviously some folks are taking it in stride.

The was a panic for some folks. That weekend there was a rumor going around that Cheatham Dam was about to be over-topped and that it would wash away and flood Cheatham County with a massive wave. When word of the rumor reached the local TV stations, they looked into it. The came back and reported that the Cheatham Dam had over-topped several hours previously but that it is a very thick piece of concrete and was designed to be over-topped during floods. The reason that the dam is there is to create a pool deep enough to allow river traffic to clear the shoals that used to be such a problem. It is a fairly low dam and the lake doesn't spread to much width. That being said, that area is an excellent place to fish for truly large catfish, some over 100 pounds have been pulled out, but not on fly rods.
